So. You tell me.
It is hard to understand why someone like me might feel the way I do. How do I feel? What is this all about? Let's start at the beginning.
In March of 1995 my husband and I bought what was to be our "first" home. In the beginning we were excited that people like us who were lower middle class at that time could even buy a house.
I have lived here in this town most of my life. I went to kindergarten here and married here. My two oldest daughters actually went to school here for a short time. We brought them home to homeschool when things were not so bad for this small city.
We added another daughter five years later. That is when hell opened and our lives would change and our daily usual life would never be the same. Everyone left. It was our fault. We didn't see the signs. We fell asleep, thinking life would go on as usual. It was later I found out that almost half of the houses were rental houses even way back in the good days. This is where you get what is known as "flybynighters". Not a real term but something I heard a teacher at the school say in a conversation.
It is not every situation that this is the truth but rental homes usual go through several families in a year. Especially in places that are just "step ups" ( a place to stay until you get something better). In another bigger city nearby, the city decided to tear down a set of government housing apartments. That city decided to change its image and put in that buildings place a complex of mixed income people and families that is based on income. The people made to leave went to rental houses and it was on a program entitled Section 8. It could help by putting families in homes, in neighborhoods to become part of a community. This, combined with a nearby town with mostly rental properties was destined for destruction. If I were to describe it.... it was like a war came, and everything was lost.
So, would you be angry?
